A running joke gives the next chat something familiar to return to. With an AI companion, context and memory can help that reference carry over. If it gets a detail wrong, correct it and keep going; recall is not perfect.
The small details give the next chat something to pick up.
Maybe you told Mika about a game you lost and spent ten minutes blaming the controller. That is the kind of little detail you can bring back later: “The controller has been cleared of all charges. Apparently it was me.” A new chat already has somewhere to start.
Nexa uses conversation context and memory to support continuity. That does not mean every detail will be stored, recalled correctly or brought up at the right moment. A convincing reference is not evidence of perfect recall.
You can bring the reference back yourself.
There is no need to turn the chat into a memory test. If you want to return to something, name it briefly. You would often do the same when picking up a conversation after a few days.
I gave that game another chance. The controller was innocent. I would like this conversation kept off the record.
When it gets something wrong, correct the detail.
If a reply confuses your dog’s name or mixes two events together, say which fact is wrong and supply the right one. A short correction gives the next reply a clearer starting point than continuing as though the mistake were true.
The model can still make another mistake. Do not use an AI companion as your only record of appointments, account information or anything you cannot afford to lose.
- “The café was part of our story, not somewhere I went yesterday.”
- “Milo is my dog. Leo is my colleague.”
- “That happened last week, not today.”
Let the joke grow a little.
Mika’s geeky, playful character makes games an easy starting point, but the reference could just as easily be a film, a song or a meal you managed to ruin. Pick something you enjoy talking about.
There is no need to supply your whole life story. One small detail is enough to return to. The fun is in what the next exchange adds to it.
Take this with you
Bring back a small reference you enjoy. If the details get mixed up, give a short reminder.
